What A Realtor Really Does For You
I don’t often speak on the subject much, but I’m here to debunk what the public believes of this market.
I hear:
“You don’t need an agent to sell your home”
“Homes are selling themselves”
“Agents make too much money”
“Do you offer a discount”
Let me tell you why the things above are so disheartening to agents in this day in age.
- Agents are working harder than we ever have. Sure there are ample buyers to buy homes, but at least 12 of those buyers want to buy the same exact home. Instead of writing one offer we’re writing multiple, showing more, driving more (keep in mind gas prices as of now), and working day in and day out to find a place and secure it against countless offers. Don’t think a listing agent has a walk in the park either. Multiple offers are sifted through, rearranged and put onto a spreadsheet in a set time frame. Conversations later happen breaking the actual specifics of each offer down. That’s after we’ve answered umpteen phone calls, texts and emails regarding questions on the property from other agents.
- When your transaction hits the fan, your agent and/or their backend team fixes it. They are the problem solver to get you to the closing table happy. No two transactions are ever the same and more than likely there will ALWAYS be at least one hiccup. Will you know about it? Maybe, maybe not. We handle most issues without you ever having to know. That’s the beauty in hiring an agent.
- There are fees that go into holding a Real Estate license and doing business. What you see “we make” is not what we bring home. You hustle, you make money, if you don’t you won’t. If you think an agent makes a lot of money, they worked damn hard to do it. We vacuum missed floors on closing day, handle utilities when you aren’t here, become expert videographers, and a lot of times are an unsolicited therapist to a handful of parties.
- Understand, this is our profession. Just as a dentist specializes in teeth, a veterinarian specializes in animals, and a teacher can wrangle a classroom full of kids like no other, this is our speciality. We have paid for training and classes, devoted countless hours and it puts food on our table. We have built relationships and partnerships with the people you need to actually close a deal. Partnerships with not just anyone mind you, the good ones who are going to take care of you.
Love and appreciate your Agent. Appreciate their team and the hours, work and dedication they put in. I promise, it may look like a monkey could do it, but that’s not the case. We care for you!
